Course Module Breakdown
This training course is structured around eight modules that explore a range of topics related to climate change science and communication finance. The modules and are designed to provide extensive background, context and skills for navigating the increasingly complex landscape of communicating effectively about the complexities of climate science, risk and impact policy and action. The goal is to help the media engage audiences, advocate for change, and raise awareness while addressing common challenges such as misinformation and emotional reactions. The eight modules are: 1. Introduction to climate change communication. 2. Solutions journalism: climate change adaptation and mitigation 3. Climate finance reporting 4. Effective climate change storytelling 5. Gender responsive and inclusive climate change reporting 6. Ethics of climate change reporting 7. Climate diplomacy and negotiations: the role of media. 8. Sourcing and verification of climate information in climate change reporting. Each module has an introductory video and is divided into training sessions. Each module features an introductory video and is structured into several training sessions. Each session contains slides, reading notes, and an end-of-session exercise. A module concludes with an assignment and a list of reference materials.
